We are located in Scarborough, a district in eastern Toronto with a population of more than 600,000 according to the 2011 census. Scarborough is bordered by Lake Ontario to the south and Steeles Avenue E to the north. Named in 1796 by Elizabeth Simcoe, Scarborough takes its name from the English town of the same name in North Yorkshire. Simcoe was the wife of the first lieutenant governor of Upper Canada, and she was inspired by the Scarborough Bluffs that reminded Simcoe of her native Yorkshire to suggest the name. In the past 200 years, Scarborough has experienced numerous transformations. Originally Scarborough Township, it became a borough of Metropolitan Toronto beginning in 1954, and once again became an independent city in 1983. Scarborough was once again annexed into the greater city of Toronto in 1998. The varied and complex history of Scarborough makes it one of the most unique locations in Canada, and it is one of the most popular destinations for new immigrants. The culturally diverse, economically thriving, and politically important district is home to numerous historical and cultural landmarks. White Willow Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is proud to be part of the Scarborough district.
