Teeth degraded by decay, infection or oral injury receive a new lease on life and cosmetic uplift with CEREC same-day crowns. Customized by your dentist in Scarborough, Dr. Samantha Amaro, CEREC crowns restore dental function and appearance in just one short visit to White Willow Dental.
CEREC Crowns are Convenient
CEREC means Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. Dr. Samantha Amaro is CEREC-certified and uses this amazing technology to rebuild teeth damaged by cavities, injury, malformation, or multiple fillings. CEREC crowns also restore dental implants or teeth treated with root canal therapy.
CEREC imaging, computer design software and chairside milling produce lifelike crowns in about an hour. A patient with an ailing tooth comes to White Willow Dental and leaves with a great restoration that has perfect bite, outstanding aesthetics and exceptional functionality.
How the Treatment Works
After an oral exam, digital X-rays and other imaging to determine if a crown is appropriate, the dentist removes decayed enamel and filling material from the tooth. She uses an intraoral camera to image the tooth and to make a three-dimensional optical impression. There’s no gooey impression material or uncomfortable trays. The dentist uses the impression and special software to design a crown that is configured and shaded to blend in with the individual’s smile.
The CEREC milling machine uses Dr. Amaro’s instructions to make the crown from a solid block of porcelain. This material is very durable. The milling process happens right in the treatment room and takes about 20 minutes. The patient views the crown as it is milled.
The doctor polishes the CEREC dental crown and bonds it securely to the re-shaped natural tooth.
CEREC Crowns are Realistic
Unlike precious metal, porcelain fused to metal (PFM) or metal alloy crowns, CEREC crowns fit perfectly right out of the milling machine with little or no bite adjustment. The crown matches adjacent teeth in color, blending right in with adjacent teeth. Plus, patients don’t wear temporary crowns or wait days or weeks for restorations to return from an outside dental lab. The restorative process is super convenient and creates a superior product, too.
Dentists and patients alike praise CEREC crowns for their durability. With daily flossing and twice daily brushing, along with six-month exams and hygienic cleanings with Dr. Amaro and her team, these restorations remain in service for a decade or more with good care. They give patients natural-looking smiles that truly last. CEREC technology is just one of many modern techniques Dr. Amaro employs to save as much natural tooth structure as possible.
